Wooden Sleepers spent a stormy weekend on the Oregon Coast this winter working on their upcoming full length album. Joined by drummer Carl LaRue and photographer/videographer Alex Kocher, both longtime friends and frequent collaborators, the band decided to capture the setting in a video for the new song Rockin' & Reelin'. The audio and video were captured in a single live take, relying on one camera and a handful of Ear Trumpet Labs microphones. The result is an organic, in the moment experience that captures the true essence of the song and the band members. Video released Friday, May 5th, 2017. Special thanks to Alex Kocher, Bobbi Backwards, and Ear Trumpet Labs.

Wooden Sleepers is a Portland folk-grass band featuring Nolan Gordin, Nik Kemmer, Phil Krug, and Carl LaRue.  Their music covers much ground, from boot-stomping traditional bluegrass, through modern folk with deep grooves, creativity, and lyrical content reminiscent of travel, romance, the beauty of nature, and life in the Old west. Their influences include Trampled by Turtles, The Wood Brothers, Elephant Revival, Railroad Earth, Milk Carton Kids, and Fruition. The band has been writing, recording, and performing music together for four years, winning over fans throughout the Northwest and beyond. Listeners frequently comment the harmonies are on point and their enthusiasm on stage makes it easy to cut loose and have a good time. Highlights include the release of several EPs and videos, successful tours, and sold out Portland shows. Wooden Sleepers are currently recording their debut full length album, due for release in Fall 2018. The album will mark an evolution from the band’s traditional roots, offering a more progressive blend of folk, bluegrass, and Americana sounds. Catch them on a stage around town soon. More Info.
